Blue Hole

Blue Hole is a scenic lagoon on the South San Gabriel River. The entrance to Blue Hole Park is located at Second Street and Rock Street, one block west of N. Austin Avenue. Fountainwood Observatory

Come see what the sky has for you to behold on a clear Georgetown evening!  See a beautiful crescent moon or brilliant planets.  As the evening proceeds, view the season’s visible constellations. On hand to guide viewing will be S.U. Physics Department faculty and talented observers from the Williamson County Astronomy Club . Fountainwood Viewing Nights are always FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The Observatory is located on the northeast side of the Southwestern University campus adjacent to the Rockwell Baseball Field. Inner Space Caverns

Among the wonderful natural features found in the Texas Hill Country are incredible living caves and caverns. Inner Space is a living cave, which means that its formations are continuing to develop and take shape. For over 80,000 years the cavern has been constantly changing, allowing for such spectacular displays as the “Soda Straws” and the breathtakingly beautiful “Ivory Falls” formations.

Inner Space Caverns has a friendly kennel available free of charge for visiting pets as they wait for their owners.

Lake Georgetown

 

For the more serious angler or water enthusiast, this 1200 acre lake offers boating, skiing, fishing, four separate camping areas, a wildlife preserve and 16 miles of hiking trails. Cedar Breaks Park and Jim Hogg Park have boat ramps and camping facilities with RV hook-ups and restrooms with showers. Russell Park has both a camping and swimming area, a boat ramp and restrooms with showers. Tejas Park offers primitive camping and picnic areas. Fishing is some of the best in the region, with small and largemouth bass, white bass, flathead and channel cat.

The Williamson Museum (Farmers State Bank Building)

The Museum is a 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization that was established in 1997 to collect and interpret items that promote the unique culture and heritage of Williamson County. The museum provides free educational programming, exhibits and events to the public including the Up the Chisholm Trail cattle drive and chuck wagon cook-off each September. Housed in the recently renovated Farmers State Bank Building (1911), the Museum offers visitors a fascinating glimpse of the past through professional exhibits and innovative hands-on programs.

Veteran's Memorial Plaza

The Georgetown-Williamson County Veterans Memorial honors all veterans who have served in our military services. The memorial plaza is lined with 2500 engraved bricks; two walls: the 16-foot Williamson County Memorial Wall and a second, 82-foot limestone Memorial Wall; and nine granite plates engraved with the names of Williamson County residents who had given their lives in either World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War and the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Williamson County Courthouse

Visible for miles around, the imposing beautiful neoclassical structure is the focal point of the central business district and the fifth structure to serve as a county courthouse. Austin architect C.H. Page designed the building, projecting porticoes supported by Ionic columns, and classic pediment and balustrade detailing. The $9 million courthouse restoration was successfully completed in 2007 through a joint effort of Williamson County and the Texas Historical Commission, returning the structure to its original splendor. The pediments and balustrade were removed in 1965. The Williamson Museum conducts free guided tours of the courthouse by appointment.  For tour information:
