Come experience the magic as we kick-off the holiday season with our annual Lighting of the Square, traditionally held at dusk on the Friday after Thanksgiving!  This years event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on November 27.   Come sing along with the Austin Carolers to your favorite holiday tunes and warm your tummy with cookies and hot chocolate!   Later, the band Uncle Lucky performs live and merchants stay open late - so stay for festive dancing and holiday shopping!

Candlelight Services at Lois Perkins Chapel

The Candlelight Services at Southwestern University are a long-standing tradition celebrating the season of Advent.  This service of lessons and carols includes a special musical repertoire by the University Chorale.  A holiday reception will follow the late service in the McCombs Campus Center.  The service times are December 3rd at 6 and 8 p.m.

Christmas Stroll

The whole family is invited out to downtown Georgetown on December 5!  Walk through a Bethlehem Village, watch a hometown holiday parade, enjoy live entertainment, sample tempting treats in the festive food court and browse more than 75 arts and crafts booths!

Sun City Holiday Home Tour

The ninth annual Sun City Holiday Home Tour will again feature six professionally decorated homes.  Be inspired as you tour these homes ranging from modern to traditional decor.  These residents’ homes will feature not only the inspired decor from the professional, but also the owner’s furniture and collectables from around the world.  Surely you will leave with ideas for decorating your own home!

The tour will be on Friday, December 4 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday, December 5 from 10 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 6 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Tickets are $10 and are available from the Sun City Community Association office, the Georgetown Visitors Center, First Texas Bank in Sun City, a Kiwanis member, or at the homes during the tour.

Heritage Society Holiday Home Tour

Deck the halls and celebrate the history of Georgetown this holiday season!  Join the Heritage Society for its annual Holiday Home Tour.  Tour-goers enjoy charming, restored, historic homes decorated in holiday finery that celebrate the past and present of old Georgetown neighborhoods.  Docents give tours as well as offer information about the history of each residence with interesting facts and tidbits.  The Holiday Home Tour occurs December 12 & 13. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 the day of.

Georgetown Farmer's Market

Come to the Georgetown Farmers Market! Our association is dedicated to bringing fresh, locally grown produce to the people of Central Texas. Our market is growing – meaning all the members sell only what they grow. This gives you the opportunity to talk face to face with the farmer and find out how your food is grown. We would love to see you there!  From April till November from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

City-Wide Garage and Sidewalk Sale

It’s the ultimate recycling and bargain-hunting event! The City-Wide Garage and Sidewalk Sale will be held downtown on Saturday, October 31. Don’t miss this opportunity to shop or sell gently-used items!  Downtown stores will hold sidewalk sales offering discounted items.   Sale hours are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sale will be an excellent fundraising opportunity for churches, civic organizations, and other nonprofits. Hill Country Arts and Crafts Fair

Red Poppy Festival

The Red Poppy Festival marks the coming of spring and the arrival of Georgetown’s colorful springtime visitor, the Red Poppy Flower. These beautiful flowers have been a part of Georgetown’s heritage and landscape for over seventy years, a fact certified by the Texas legislature in naming Georgetown as the Red Poppy Capital of Texas.  Join us for over 100 unique hand craft vendors, a fabulous free children’s area, a car show, parade, outstanding live music and a Saturday night concert and street dance!

Up the Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive and Chuck Wagon Cookoff

Watch chuckwagon teams compete and see an authentic longhorn cattle drive in San Gabriel Park at this annual event and celebrate Georgetown’s location on the historic Chisholm Trail, as well as Williamson County’s rich cattle driving and raising heritage.  There will be entertainment for all ages including live cowboy music, food, a western art show, western demonstrators, chuckwagons, a kids’ chuckwagon cook-off, historical trail drive re-enactors, and a ranch rodeo!  Check back for for the 2010 date.  For more information, visit the website below.
